Description

“Vintage” shows a bunch of white tulips in a ceramic vase between a black damask panel and a striped field.

What the picture shows

The tulips stand in a tight cluster: the buds are worked in white, cream and pearl beads with pink and green touches at the tips, the long leaves in two shades of green. The vase is round, the colour of milky coffee, with a fine crackle pattern filled in beige and brown beads. A vertical panel of black foliate ornament, laid out in matt black beads, runs down the left, while black-and-white stripes close the right edge. The word “Tulips” appears in printed script at the bottom, underlined with single beads. The rest of the ground — pale canvas with faint scrolls — is left unbeaded. The beads here are mostly matt rather than shiny, which supports the restrained vintage palette.
