Description

Venice landscape shows a narrow canal between houses, a boat by the steps, a gondola on the right and a full moon above the bell tower.

What the picture shows

The façades are worked in warm beads: orange, amber and white rows along the cornices, the balcony and the window frames, with shutters in red and white. The balcony is set off by its own row of amber beads. The bougainvillea on the left is laid out in pink, crimson and green — the brightest patch in the piece. The boat is outlined in green and white, the gondola in black beads with golden details, the lamp in black with a yellow light. The water of the canal, the blue sky with the moon and the hazy bell tower in the distance stay printed on the canvas. Twelve colours give warm houses against a cool ground. The steps by the water are marked in white and grey beads, the railing in a thin black line.
