Description

“The voice of the stream” is drawn with childlike simplicity and a lot of colour: a girl among giant daisies and a paper boat riding the waves.

What the picture shows

The girl stands right of centre, long golden hair, a pink striped dress; above her rise orange and yellow blooms with dark green hearts on tall stems. Below, blue and violet waves carry a large white paper boat. On the left there is a sun with straight rays, round red trees on a green hill and a rainbow arching behind. Beads cover the flowers, the boat, the waves, the sun and the fine beaded frame; the patchwork background of yellow, red and pale blue stays as print on the canvas. The petals of the big flowers are beaded in long lines running from the centre outwards, and the waves in rows that follow the curve of the water. The boat is left white and stands out as the brightest patch of all.
