Description

The night city shows a few houses with lit windows, a golden moon above them and the black silhouette of a cat on a roof.

What the picture shows

The walls and roofs are beaded densely: blue, ultramarine, lilac and emerald beads lie in even rows, which makes the houses look almost like mosaic. The windows are worked in yellow and gold — the only warm patches in the piece. The moon is built from yellow beads with a white outline, and the stars are single white and golden beads. The pale sky and the distant house silhouettes stay printed on the canvas, and the whole design rests on that contrast: a filled lower third and an almost empty top. The cat on the roof is marked with a few black beads. Eight colours — the fewest among these miniatures, and the piece only gains from it.
