Description

“Summer bouquet” shows a woven basket full of daisies and cornflowers, with yellow butterflies above it.

What the picture shows

The basket is beaded in beige and gold in rows that follow the weave, with a tall curved handle. White and pale blue daisies with orange centres, blue cornflowers and small bell flowers spill from it, and green leaves reach past the rim. Two yellow butterflies hover to the left and right. The background — pale boards with faint white scrolls — stays as print on the canvas, as does the grass along the bottom, so the beaded bouquet comes forward. The daisy petals are beaded as separate lines running from the centre outwards, so each flower comes out with body. The weave of the basket is rendered as arcs of golden beads following the curve of the wicker.
