Sleeping fairy has a small fairy asleep on the petals of a big yellow water lily, one hand tucked under her cheek.

What the picture shows

The fairy’s dress is worked in pink and magenta with paler folds, her wings in green along the ribs, and her bud-shaped cap in dark green with an orange flower on top. The lily petals are outlined in orange and marigold, the lily pads in green, and small white beads sit on the ripples of the water. In the upper corner two large white beaded stars stand out against the blue sky. The face, the hair and the yellow flower itself stay as print: the beads stress the outlines and the texture rather than covering the drawing. The eight colours split between the pink dress, the green wings and leaves and the orange outline of the petals — and it is the orange that holds the composition together.
