Description

Skoda Favorit places a black 1930s saloon in front of a brick town hall. Few colours, but plenty of metallic shine.

What the picture shows

The car is worked almost in monochrome: black and graphite beads over the body, silver and pearl on the radiator, lamps, bumpers, wheel rims and along the ridges of the bonnet. Bright dots along the roof and wings read as light sliding over the lacquer. The glass is left as dark print. The town hall with its tall windows, tower and spires, and the cobbles under the wheels, are watercolour on the canvas and stay as background — on art canvas the beads are placed selectively, not edge to edge. There are only five colours, and that is exactly why the piece looks so composed: black, graphite, silver and pearl make up almost the whole body.
