Description

“Pink wings” shows a butterfly with one wing worked in beads and the other made of flowers.

What the picture shows

The left wing is pink and lilac: rows of crimson, pink and blue beads run from the body to the edge, and the lower wing is paler with pearl highlights. The right wing is replaced by a cluster of flowers — pink, lilac and blue, each with a dark centre. The body is worked in black and grey beads, the antennae run in two fine threads. Small splashes of black, blue and pink beads scatter around. The white ground stays printed: on art canvas the beads do not cover the surface, and the empty field sharpens the graphic effect. The beaded wing is worked in rows along the veins, from the body to the edge, and the hardest part is keeping the tone even where the colours change. The flowers on the other wing are built as separate rosettes and go quickly.
