Description

“Petal Kiss” is a large pink magnolia with dark green leaves.

What the picture shows

The flower opens in the centre and fills most of the field: broad petals worked in pink, crimson and cream beads, lightening towards the edges, with a golden pistil at the heart. Pointed leaves spread on either side, beaded in dark green and emerald with pale veins. The blurred green-pink ground stays as printing on the canvas and holds the flower in a soft haze. The petals are beaded in rows along their shape, so every curve reads even from a distance. One petal in the foreground is folded back and shows its underside — paler than the rest, it gives the flower depth. The veins on the leaves are a single row of pale beads. The pistil at the heart is beaded in gold in a circle — the only warm spot among the pinks.
