Description

Owl Duet shows two owls side by side on a branch — grey and white on the left, turquoise and ginger on the right — with yellow and pink butterflies fluttering around them.

What the picture shows

The left owl is worked in white, grey and pale blue in fine rows with a pink wave across the chest; the right one in turquoise, orange and pink, with rows of speckles down her belly. Both pairs of eyes are rings of gold and orange beads with a black rim. The branch is outlined in black and gold, the leaves in green two rows wide. The butterflies are beaded in yellow, pink and pale blue, while the smaller ones stay printed on the canvas. The washed pale blue background is not filled in, and that is what gives the piece air. Twelve colours are arranged so that each owl keeps her own range while the butterflies tie them together.
