Description

On a rocking horse shows a ginger fox cub in blue dungarees rocking on a wooden horse, a huge swirl lollipop in his paw. The mood is cheerful and a little mischievous.

What the picture shows

The cub is outlined in rows of red, white and black beads — the muzzle, the ears, the striped sleeve, the bushy tail. The horse is worked in golden brown and amber: mane, saddle, rockers and the curl on its side. The lollipop is a spiral of red and white. A striped awning, a pink curtain in the window and a green watering can fill in the yard, while the flowers around are small rosettes of pink, white and gold. The sky, the green lawn and the cub’s own fur stay as full-colour print on the canvas — the beads work as accents rather than solid coverage. Twelve colours separate the warm horse from the cooler blue dungarees.
