Description

Nevada parks a blue late-1920s saloon in front of an ornate palace gateway. The car is vivid, the background restrained and almost sketch-like.

What the picture shows

The body is worked in two blues: dense navy along the flanks, lighter sky-blue over the bonnet and roof. Silver and clear beads pick out the grille, bumper, running board and lamps; the wheels are black with white rims; and the number plate reads PAR-31 in yellow beads. The palace behind — arches, dome and patterned frieze — stays as a beige-brown drawing on the canvas. No beads go there, and that is exactly what pushes the car forward. Two strengths of blue are used at once, and the step between them is what models the body; ten colours still leave enough for chrome, glass and the plate.
