Description

“Morning exercise” is a yellow bear cub in a pink swimsuit holding a striped ball overhead.

What the picture shows

The cub stands in the centre: a pink beaded bow on its head and a pink swimsuit trimmed with white beaded stripes and a pocket with a yellow badge. In its raised paw is a large ball divided into colour segments — pale blue, green, yellow and pink — each outlined with a string of beads. Underfoot lies a mat worked in long rows of blue, yellow, green and pink beads that follow its stripes. The room behind, pink and yellow with toys and cushions, stays printed on the canvas. The ball is worked in segments, with the borders between them drawn in separate rows of beads, so it looks rounded. The swimsuit is not fully beaded: the pink fabric stays printed while the beads run along the edges, the straps and the pocket. The mat underfoot carries the longest rows in the piece, stretching from edge to edge. The toys in the background take no beads at all.
