Little whyer shows a ginger owl in a blue nightcap reading a book on a branch while two owlets listen from the branches nearby.

What the picture shows

The big owl’s feathers are worked in red and amber beads — the outline of the body, the wing and the tail; the cap is pale blue with a white pompom. The book in her claws is marked with black and yellow rows. The small white owlet in a blue bonnet is outlined in white and pale blue, the purple owlet above in dark lilac and gold, its cap blue with white dots. The branches are black rows, the leaves green stitches, the crescent moon a line of white beads. The blue-green night background, the tree trunks and the small yellow flowers stay printed on the canvas. Eleven colours are arranged so that each bird keeps its own range.
