Description

“Little friend” shows a white terrier peering out of a black handbag, with a string of pearls and a pair of glasses beside it.

What the picture shows

The dog is pale and shaggy, with a white bow on its head and its front paws over the rim of the bag. The bag itself is black with a golden sheen, worked in fine beads, with a wide bow and a handle. A strand of pearl beads spills over the edge, and dark-framed glasses lie below. The lilac ground darkens softly at the corners and stays as print on the canvas; beads carry the terrier, the bag, the pearls and the glasses. The terrier's coat is beaded in fine strands of white and cream laid in different directions, so it looks tousled. The pearls are a row of matching pale beads, and the bag is filled densely, with a sheen.
