“Little angel” is an angel in a blue dress above snow-covered houses.

What the picture shows

The figure stands in the centre: fair hair parted in the middle, a gold halo, and a face drawn finely and left as printing. The dress is pale blue with a white collar and a string of beads, large white wings with long feathers rise behind the shoulders, and the angel carries a dark basket. Brown fir trees and tiny snow-covered houses fill the bottom, and a lilac-blue sky with white stars the top. A narrow beaded border runs around the edge and closes the scene. The beads cover the wings, the dress, the firs and the stars; the snow and the sky stay as printing on the canvas. The houses below are tiny — a few beads for a wall and a roof — and it is this difference in scale that makes the angel look large.
