Description

Kitchen – 3 lays out a dish of berries, a bottle, a halved apple and a bowl of pears on a table, reduced to clean outlines and blocks of colour.

What the picture shows

The berries in the tall dish are worked in deep red and orange, the stem and bowl in turquoise and white rows. The bottle is outlined top to bottom in dark red, its blue shadow left as print. The apple on the left is drawn in orange and red with a white core and red pips. The pears in the bowl are filled with green, the bowl itself in white and turquoise. The knife below is run in black and white, and the lilac contour lines across the yellow ground are set in pink beads. Twelve colours make it possible to work almost entirely in outline: each object has its own colour of line, and that is what holds the composition.
