Description

“It's like a fairytale” shows a red-and-white gingerbread house under a glass dome among fir trees.

What the picture shows

A two-storey house stands in the centre: red walls, white shutters and rows of pale beads standing in for snow on the roof, with the door and windows outlined in blue and yellow. The glass dome is marked by an arc of white beads, and under it sits a wooden base worked in brown and gold. Dark green firs and orange and crimson bushes grow on either side, and a street lamp with a red heart stands on the left. Pink and orange branches spread across the top. The olive-gold background with its printed fir trees is left as it is: on art canvas the beads do not cover the surface. The small details — shutters, lamp, heart — are just a few beads each, and they are what gives the piece its miniature feel. The arc of the dome runs across the whole upper part and is set as one long even line.
