Description

“Hut by the sea” shows a small white house under palms, a hammock between the trunks and turquoise water beyond.

What the picture shows

The palm fronds are beaded in several greens — long strands hang from the upper edge and screen the sky. The trunks are laid in brown beads, with a white hammock and an amber edge slung between them. The house stands further back: a white wall, a rust-red roof, a blue window and door. Pink shrubs flower along the bottom, and the curve of the shore and the bright blue sea show on the left. Sand, water and sky stay as print on the canvas — beads carry the palms, the hammock, the flowers and the lines of surf. The palm fronds are beaded in long strands laid along each leaf, which keeps them light and moving. The hammock is marked by two rows of white beads with an amber border.
