Description

“Holy holiday” shows an Easter cake with a candle and a daffodil among painted eggs and spring flowers.

What the picture shows

The cake stands in the centre: a golden-brown side in terracotta beads, white icing scalloped along the edge, small coloured sprinkles and a lit candle with a yellow flame. A yellow daffodil with green leaves lies on top. Painted eggs are laid out in a half-circle below — blue with white dots, yellow with specks, lilac and pink — with white snowdrops and lilac crocuses growing beside them. The yellow ground with its large white polka dots stays printed, as does part of the foliage: on art canvas the beads do not cover the surface. The icing on the cake is worked in matt white beads with scallops that follow the drips. The sprinkles are single coloured beads scattered over the white, and they are what makes the cake look like real baking.
