Description

Happy Easter is a woven basket with a white rabbit, yellow chicks and a pink egg looking out of it, tulips flowering all around.

What the picture shows

The basket is worked in brown and gold — vertical rows for the withies and a tall arched handle that reads convincingly as wickerwork. The tulips are outlined in yellow, pink and coral, the stems and leaves in green, and the meadow is scattered with tiny flowers in white, blue and pink beads. The large pink egg is edged in pink, and the little bird above the basket in two blues. The rabbit, the chicks and the watercolour sky stay as full-colour print: here the beads outline the shapes and give them depth. The ten colours are spread across the whole canvas rather than gathered in one place: yellow and pink for the tulips, green for the grass, brown and gold for the basket.
