Description

“Funny company” is a ginger kitten and a monkey riding in a blue cart.

What the picture shows

The cart sits across the canvas: its side is pale blue with painted clouds, and rows of turquoise, blue and white beads run along the rim and the base; a yellow sun with rays is beaded on the side, and the wheels are orange with beaded spokes. Two passengers ride inside: a striped ginger kitten in a red kerchief and a brown monkey with a long tail holding up a green palm with two coconuts. The outlines of the animals, their kerchiefs and the palm are beaded, while the faces themselves and the yellow ground stay printed. The palm has leaves of green beads and two dark balls for coconuts. The wheels are laid out as circles with spokes, and the finest work goes there. Both animals wear red kerchiefs with small white dots. The animals themselves and the yellow wall behind stay printed, so here the beads work as outline and accent rather than as fill.
