Description

“Full moon” is a night landscape with a large pale moon above a field of orange poppies.

What the picture shows

The upper half is taken by a blue sky with a big round moon that is left as printing, its light spreading across the clouds. A tree with a dense crown grows on the left, worked in deep blue, violet and emerald beads; a slimmer sapling stands on the right in lilac and white. The field begins below: large orange flowers with dark centres, small green stems and grasses filled in green and gold. Gaps of warm printing are left between the blooms, and it is these that keep the field from looking heavy. The tree crowns are the most densely beaded and the field is sparser, and that difference alone builds the near and far planes. The moon stays the one large unbeaded patch.
