Mini Bead Embroidery Kit on Art Canvas "Flowers in the pond"
Description
“Flowers in the pond” shows a wooden bridge over lily water, in the mood of late nineteenth-century garden painting.
What the picture shows
The bridge arches across the whole picture: rails and posts beaded in brown and gold, with stone steps visible beyond. The banks are covered with shrubs flowering in coral, crimson and pink; a pink blossoming tree spreads on the right, red foliage darkens the left. Water lilies drift below — green pads and white blooms. The water, the path and the further shrubs stay as print on the canvas, so the watercolour ground and the stitched areas add up to one picture. The flowering shrubs are beaded as small clusters of three or four beads set loosely — that is how the brushstroke is rendered. The bridge rail is a straight line of golden beads that holds the whole composition together.
