Description

“Flower ball” shows a Christmas bauble covered in pink and gold flowers on a lilac ground.

What the picture shows

The ball is densely beaded: crimson and pink five-bead flowers, gold centres, white and bronze accents between them. A gold cap with a pink bow sits on top, and a ribbon banner with the words “Merry Christmas” runs up from it. The lilac field around is sown with single gold and pink beads standing in for snow. There are 2,317 beads in the piece, so the work is dense and the ball looks almost three-dimensional. Part of the ground still stays printed: on art canvas the beads are not solid. The flowers are beaded as five petals around a gold centre, and there are several dozen such rosettes on the ball — the main body of the work. The single beads on the lilac field go in last, once the ball is finished.
