Description

“FC Chelsea” shows the blue roundel with its lion on a pale ground of paint drips.

What the picture shows

The crest is round and blue: Chelsea Football Club is worked around the rim in gold beads, with two red rosettes between the words. Inside, on a white field, stands a blue lion holding a staff, outlined in deep blue beads. The circle itself is framed by a double gold border. The ground is pale, almost white, with light blue, grey and ochre runs dripping down it, and a large yellow circle showing behind the crest. The drips are picked up by vertical rows of white, pale blue and gold beads, and the rest of the ground is left as printing. The lettering around the rim takes the most time: the letters are small and follow a curve. The lion inside is worked in a single blue tone with no gradation, which keeps the silhouette crisp. There is less beading here than in the neighbouring pieces of the series.
