Description

“FC Arsenal” shows the red cannon shield on white canvas streaked with paint drips.

What the picture shows

The crest stands in the centre: a shield with a pointed foot, outlined in gold beads, its upper part red with Arsenal spelled out in white beading. A long-barrelled cannon on a wheel lies beneath the word, worked in bronze and gold; the lower field of the shield is deep blue. The ground is white, with runs of red, pink, brown and grey dripping down it, each caught by vertical rows of beads. Wide gaps of plain printing are left between the runs, and they are what give the piece its air. The lettering and the cannon are the only fine details; the rest is built from large areas, so the work goes quickly. The bead rows on the ground never close into a solid field and the white canvas shows between them.
