Fairy owl shows a pink owl with a tiny crown and translucent wings sitting among snowflakes on a turquoise ground.

What the picture shows

The eyes are wide rings of red and crimson beads with blue circles and black pupils inside, framed by a rim of small black beads. The body is outlined in black, and the scrolls on the chest and sides are worked in gold, olive and pink beads straight over the printed ornament. The wings are picked out in green and gold rows, the crown in blue and olive. The snowflakes on the background are white and pale blue rosettes, and they are what open the composition up. The pink body and the turquoise sky stay as full-colour print — the beads follow outlines and the pattern. Ten colours hold the contrast of pink against turquoise. A pale flower shows below, with the owl perched on it.
