Description

Eggplant shows a deep purple aubergine with a glossy highlight, three slices beside it and a lilac flower on the left.

What the picture shows

The fruit is outlined in violet, lilac and pink beads, the rows following the edge and the light highlight so that the skin looks glossy. The slices are worked in white and yellow with tiny beads for the seeds. The flower is laid out in lilac and pink with a yellow centre, and the green shoots and tendrils are fine dark green lines. The leaves are outlined in green while their insides stay printed. The warm yellow ground is not filled either — it is what sets off the purple. A border of brown and cream stripes with corner fans runs around the picture. Eleven colours built on a pairing of purple and green. The green calyx on the fruit is laid out in emerald rows.
