Description

“Decorating christmas tree” shows a little mouse in a red cap hanging a large burgundy bauble on a fir branch.

What the picture shows

The bauble takes up the lower half: dense burgundy-red beads around the edge and a pale snowflake pattern of pink, white and pearl beads in the centre. The mouse holds on to the loop, its tail curling up in a line of golden beads, its cap trimmed with white fur and a pompom. Fir branches spread around, worked in two shades of green, with white snowballs between them. The background stays printed: mint-turquoise watercolour with blurred snowflakes. On art canvas the beads do not cover the surface, so they carry the bauble, the mouse, the needles and the brightest snowflakes. The pattern on the bauble is beaded in small circles, so this passage moves more slowly than the rest of the canvas. The fir needles, by contrast, go quickly: short slanted rows of two or three beads.
