Description

“Cottage Beneath the Clouds” is a white cottage with a golden roof on a hillside under piled clouds.

What the picture shows

The little house stands in the centre: white walls, dark windows and a tall roof worked in golden ochre beads like thatch. A pale path leads to the door and runs off down the hill. The slope is covered with small flowers — orange, blue and white dots over dark green grass. Clouds of white and grey beads gather above the roof, with blue sky behind them. The far distance and the shadows stay as printing on the canvas; the flowers on the slope are set as single beads, which makes the meadow look dense. The clouds use two tones — lighter above, grey below — so they look solid rather than flat.
