Description

“Christmas motif” works like a warm holiday card: an owl in a red hat and a striped scarf.

What the picture shows

The bird sits on a branch in the middle — brown and gold plumage laid in rows of beads, large dark eyes, a red cap with a white trim and a green and white scarf. Behind it is a pale oval; around that, fir branches with cones, holly with red berries and white snowflakes. The deep red ground carries a small printed pattern and is not beaded — the stitching covers the owl, the branches, the berries and the snowflakes, while the red field stays as print and holds the festive mood. The breast feathers are worked in short rows of two browns, the cap in solid red with a white band along the edge. The holly berries are set three or four beads at a time, the cones in fine brown beads.
