Description

“Children's holiday” shows a green mitten filled with gifts, the way St Nicholas leaves it.

What the picture shows

The mitten stands in the centre on wooden boards: it is filled with several shades of green, a fir tree worked across the middle and a dark edging along the outline. Fluffy fir branches, a large red-and-white candy cane and a wooden rocking horse with a dappled side stick out of the top. A red band is tied around the mitten and sprigs with red berries hang at the side. Large white snowflakes in matt white beads spread into the corners, with small flecks of snow between them. The boards and the brick-red border stay as printing on the canvas. The mitten itself is beaded almost solidly, which makes it the heaviest thing in the picture, while the snowflakes are open, one bead to a ray.
