“Blushing bride” is a chalkboard bar sign with a cocktail recipe and a beaded glass.

What the picture shows

The ground is dark graphite, like a school blackboard. Tonight's appears at the top in small type, Signature Drink below it in capitals, and lower still the cocktail's name, The Blushing Bride, in script; all the lettering is outlined in white and silver beads over the printed shapes. Four lines beneath list what goes into it: vodka, elderflower, grapefruit juice and champagne. A long-stemmed martini glass stands on the right, worked in clear and cream beads. A slice of orange, an olive and small leaves lie at the foot, and beaded scrolls fill the corners. The beads work here like chalk: they run as a thin line along the letters while the dark field stays empty, and it is that contrast that makes the sign readable from a distance.
