Description

Autumn queen puts a big pumpkin among leaves and yellow flowers on a planked ground, with russet autumn leaves in the corners.

What the picture shows

The ribs of the pumpkin are drawn as curved rows of red, orange and gold, so the form reads as solid, while the fruit itself stays as warm grey-pink print. The leaves are filled with several greens along their veins, the tendrils run as fine green lines, and the flowers are yellow and orange with dark centres. The autumn leaves in the corners are worked in red and amber. A double border of gold and brown beads runs round the edge. The planked ground with its lettering is left unbeaded. Six colours make the shortest palette in this group, and the restraint is deliberate: the pumpkin stays printed while the beads only trace its ribs and outline the leaves.
