Description

“A Midsummer Night's Dream” is meadow flowers under a swirling starry sky.

What the picture shows

Night takes the upper part: blue and azure bead spirals wind around a bright star, with a few more stars scattered at the edges. Flowers rise from below — red, orange, pink and yellow heads on thin green stems, with a few leaves leaning aside. They grow densely and almost meet the sky. The dark ground between the stems stays printed, which makes the blooms read as brighter. The spirals of the sky are beaded along the direction of the brushstroke rather than in even horizontal rows. The stems use two greens, the front ones lighter than those behind, which gives the meadow depth. The star at the centre of the sky is larger than the rest and beaded in a lighter tone, so it holds the upper half.
