Description

“Tender bouquet” shows an armful of small garden flowers in a warm clay jug.

What the picture shows

The jug stands in the centre of the lower part: its rounded side is stitched in ochre, gold and dark brown beads so that a highlight shows on the body. The bouquet spreads widely out of it — pink and raspberry cornflowers, white daisies with yellow centres, small lilac and violet florets, cream sprigs, and above them long thin stems ending in pale pink and blue beads. Leaves and stems are worked in several greens, from olive to emerald. A few sprigs hang down onto the table. The background is a blurred printed interior in beige, grey and warm brown; it stays as the image, and the beads cover only the flowers and the jug.
