Description

“Small foxes” shows two red foxes leaning into one another among the grass.

What the picture shows

The foxes take up nearly the whole square: the front one sits upright, the second presses against its side and buries its muzzle in the fur. The coat is rendered in strokes of red, orange and gold beads, the chest and cheeks in white and cream, ear tips and paws in black, the eyes narrowed. Tufts of grass in green, white, yellow and pale blue grow around them below, and a third fox lies in the grass in front. The background is printed in pale green and ochre bands like a cave wall, with faint rock paintings — human figures, a spiral, horses. Those drawings are not beaded and stay part of the background.
