Description

“La Vie en rose” is a pink vintage car on a Paris street with the Eiffel Tower behind.

What the picture shows

The car stands side-on over the cobbles and fills the lower part of the picture: the rounded body is worked in pink and crimson beads, the headlights and bumper in silver, the windows pale. Behind it a street runs into the distance with tall houses, balconies and rose bushes spilling down the walls in pink clusters. The Eiffel Tower shows in the gap between the buildings against a pink-peach sky. The cobbles and the far facades stay printed, while the beads cover the car, the roses, the tower and the sky — which makes the foreground noticeably brighter than the depth. The rose bushes run at two levels — near the ground and up at the balconies — which makes the street look lived in.
