Description

“Gentle dream” is a bouquet of white tulips with lilac spikes among long green leaves.

What the picture shows

A dense bouquet is gathered on a soft grey-green ground: cream-white buds with pink and ochre highlights, long pointed leaves in several shades of green, and two lilac-pink flower spikes standing up between them. The flowers are stitched in small rows following the petal, the leaves along the vein, so you can see each blade curve. The watercolour ground with its blurred patches is left unbeaded — it stays printed and softens the whole bouquet. One bud has already opened a little, showing its pink heart — a detail that holds the eye at the centre of the composition.
