Description

“Dreamer” shows a child on a golden crescent sending a fountain of bright sparks into the night sky.

What the picture shows

At the lower left a small figure in a dress sits on the curved moon, with a red-furred animal pressed against her. From them a wide stream flies upward: pink, turquoise, yellow and white dots, little stars and snowflakes, thickening towards the top edge. The ground is deep blue with violet and steel washes, almost black in places, streaked with long pale runs. The beads fill the moon, both figures and the whole scatter of sparks; the blue night itself stays as printing on the canvas. Near the figure the sparks are small and sparse; higher up they grow larger and gather into a dense cloud, which is how the movement of a breath is shown.
