Description

“Crystal Web” is a spider on a shimmering web among dry branches.

What the picture shows

A large spider sits in the centre: the round abdomen is worked in black and gold beads with pale flecks, and eight long legs reach out in every direction, each stitched as its own row. Behind it the web glows — thin circles of pale blue and white beads catching the light. Dry twigs in copper and ochre tones rise on either side. The ground is a cool turquoise-grey gradient and stays printed. There are nine colours, and the piece lives on the play between dark and translucent. The legs are stitched a single bead wide, so they really do look thin; the beads darken at the joints and the bend shows.
