Description

“Coming back home” is a white crane in flight above a dark field of golden ears.

What the picture shows

The bird takes the upper half: wide-open wings worked in white and silver beads with brown flight feathers, the long neck stretched forward, the legs trailing behind. Below, thin stalks with golden ears rise from the dark earth, each one stitched separately. Behind the bird lie muted grey-green slopes and a pale sky; that part stays printed. There are only six colours in the kit, and the piece rests on the contrast of the white bird, the gold of the ears and the dark ground below. The flight feathers are picked out in separate long rows while the breast down is beaded crosswise, which makes the wings look stiff and the body soft.
