“Andromeda” shows a woman in a star-strewn gown sitting beside a golden moon and gathering stars from the night sky.

What the picture shows

A large crescent arcs down the right side, worked in gold and amber beads. Beside it sits a figure with long dark chestnut hair in a wide cream gown scattered with golden stars; in her hands she holds a thin strand of light. The ground is a deep blue sky with white spirals, silver specks and a large eight-pointed star at the upper left. The beads fill the moon, the gown, the hair, the stars and the whorls of sky; the blue depth itself stays as printing on the canvas. The hem of the gown dissolves into the dark: the bead rows thin out there, and the fabric seems to drain away into the night.
