Microbead Embroidery Postcard-Envelope Kit "Early spring"
Description
“Early spring” is a window box in which tulips, irises and daffodils have all come up at once. It is the most densely planted piece in the series.
What the picture shows
A long wooden box lies along the bottom: its planks are worked in cream and sand beads in long horizontal rows with darker grain between them. Everything grows out of it at once. Purple irises rise highest, their turned-back petals worked in two shades of lilac with yellow tongues. Red tulips burn below them — six tight cups, each with a darker side. Yellow daffodils stand between, and clusters of lilac hyacinths and grape hyacinths, built bead by bead, crowd the ends of the box. Leaves and stems use three greens. Behind it all the white shuttered window, the pale blue ground and two yellow butterflies at the top stay as printing on the canvas.
