Description

“Summer fantasy” is a tall, narrow bouquet of red poppies and white daisies against a grassy green ground.

What the picture shows

The composition is stretched upwards: poppies are spread over the full height — two open at the top, three larger ones in the middle, another leaning to the right — with narrow green buds on long stems between them. The petals are worked in several shades of red, from almost orange in the light to deep cherry in shadow, and the centres are black with fine pale dots. The daisies are white with yellow eyes and gather in the lower third of the bouquet. Stems and fine feathery foliage use three tones of green. The background is a soft green wash with a lighter patch at the centre; it stays as printing on the canvas, because the micro beads cover only the flowers and the greenery and never fill the ground solidly.
