Description

“Doves” shows two white doves among roses and lilac, in a composition stretched along the horizontal.

What the picture shows

The birds hold the centre: one lifts off to the left with a spread wing, the other sits lower and turns its head towards it, their beaks almost touching. The plumage is worked in white with pale blue and grey-blue shadows, so the wings gain volume. Around them open pink-and-peach roses with yellow hearts, small yellow flowers with brown stamens, clusters of lilac and dark green leaves. Lilac ribbons wind between the blooms and tie the bunch together. To the right, apart from the main group, lies a second spray of yellow flowers with a ribbon that balances the composition. The background is pink and cream, almost without detail; it stays as printing on the canvas, while the micro beads work the birds, the flowers and the ribbons.
