Description

“Volyn region” is a compact outline with geometric embroidery in red and black.

What the picture shows

The shape is small and rounded, with a deep curve at the top and several spurs below. The print on the canvas imitates dense cross stitch, and beads are worked over it: black crosses and diamonds alternate with red ones, while white beads at the centres of the motifs give the light accents. Transparent red beads appear here and there — they catch the light differently from the matte ones and add depth to the surface. Three hundred and fifty-one beads in four colours lie loosely, with the print visible between them, so the beading feels like a continuation of the cloth. A gold cord follows every curve of the region’s border and at the same time hides the cut edge of the canvas.
