Description

“Rivne region” is an outline divided into two bands of ornament.

What the picture shows

One half is taken up by a black and white pattern of diamonds and crosses, the other by even rows of white, red and black that look like a woven belt. A broad light band runs between them and gives the eye a rest. There are three colours — white, red and black — and white dominates here, which is rare in this series. Four hundred and thirty-four beads are laid in rows with almost no gaps, yet the print on the canvas still shows between them. A gold cord finishes the outline: it hides the cut edge and keeps the silhouette clear on any surface.
