Description

“Kiev region” is a red and black ornament on a light canvas.

What the picture shows

The outline stretches upwards, with a long spur at the lower right and several notches along the left edge. The canvas here is light and finely gridded, and the design is built directly on it: red eight-pointed stars alternate with black crosses, and toothed black lines run diagonally between them. There are only two colours, red and black, but the varying density of the beads makes the ornament look richer than it is. Four hundred and thirty-four beads do not cover the canvas completely: empty light areas stay between the motifs, and that is part of the design. The edge is finished with a gold cord that follows the long spur below. The motifs are spaced evenly, so the piece is easy to work area by area.
